Description: |
The intern will teach curriculum-linked science and nature programming, often outdoors on our coast, our riverside trails, and our classrooms at our small education centre. We are a non-profit science and nature centre in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland (~25 minutes from the capital of St. John\'s). Our most popular programs are Grade 3 Soils (partially outdoors), Grade 4 Rocks and Minerals (fully outdoors), Grade 7 Ecosystems (partially outdoors), and Grade 8 Water (partially outdoors). Up to 40% of our school visits could be in French (we host both early and late immersion schools). Our programs are very hands-on and we accept up to 60 students a day for programming. We currently have two full-time teaching staff, and the intern would work alongside these staff members and be supervised by our Education Manager. We are currently developing high school programming as well, especially in our key areas in geology and biology. |
