Ecosource is an innovative organization that empowers the community to become more environmentally responsible through creative public education. We have 2 internships available for select teacher candidates that are enthusiastic and dedicated to sustainability and environmental education. This placement would be a valuable opportunity for students who are looking to build expertise and confidence within the field of environmental education and in an alternative teaching context. During the internship teacher candidates would work in our school-based programs that offer hands-on learning to students throughout Mississauga. The position would provide opportunities to facilitate workshops (k-8), participate in waste audits (grade 3-12), and contribute to school-wide environmental action campaigns (k-12). There would also be the opportunity to work in our community and teaching gardens, develop environmentally themed lesson plans, and assist with the Peel Children’s Water Festival. This position would subsequently advance experience and familiarity with classroom management practices, Ontario curriculum, environmental education policies and theories, and the everyday activities of a not-for-profit organization. This internship will have the teacher candidates both in the office and also delivering programs in locations across Mississauga. As such, access to a car is required. |
